In a few words tell us about yourself.
The second child of a family of 8, I have an Honors degree in Accountancy from the University of Benin. I am also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, Nigeria.
What inspired your interest in the hospitality and tourism industry?
The interest in providing specific and exceptional service to guests and customers and making people happy continues to inspire my interest in hospitality and tourism.
What’s your vision for the hospitality & tourism industry?
I foresee a future where services in hospitality and tourism become more and more personalized rather than automated. The ‘old school’ method of personal services by the hotel GM and executives needs to be reintroduced.
In what ways has your company contributed to the growth of the hospitality industry and its stakeholders?
The Four Points by Sheraton Lagos being a member of the Marriott International family with over 6000 hotels worldwide, being the biggest player in the global hospitality stage continues to provide responsible and ethical leadership in every country where it operates including Nigeria.
What are your major challenges in your business?
The key challenge is the inadequacy of specialized teaching and mentoring hospitality institutions to provide a solid platform for the young and upcoming hospitality professionals.
What are your thoughts on the state of the hospitality & tourism industry in Nigeria?
We need to have Credible locally branded Hotel Operators who can be relied on to provide international standards of hotel management for interested local and international investors.
How do you intend to join in the campaign of changing the game and perception of the hospitality & tourism industry in Nigeria?
Two ways I plan to donate a few hours of my time to train and mentor upcoming hospitality players and convince some other colleagues to do the same. 2. To partner with other hospitality professionals to form hotel operation outfits that can competently and ethically compete with the international hotel management companies.
Words of wisdom for intending and current industry stakeholders.
Patience is key. Hospitality and Tourism investment ROI is not expected to give you a 100% payback in 5 years. Be patient and plan for the long term.
